i missed stargazing last night for DC. never went to the star parties at moorpark. last time i went to griffith observatory, all clouds. big bear, moonlight as bright as day. derp.

but last night the water under the halogen pier lights was the color of this sky and you could watch it stretch into out into this pure black horizon line, then gradient up and out into an indigo shade that covers the whole night. and of course, stars, a bit brighter over the relative blackness, winged away from the coastline lights. i like remembering that moment of silence that settled over all of us when we looked up, up, up. we’re all humbled before the magnitude of dark matter and infinity beyond our scope of comprehension. i hope one day i can take more astronomy classes and see a sky full of stars without any light pollution.
